Training Workshop, NCC, Kerala

On the occasion of this Rakshabandhan today [30th August 2023], taking a pledge together to stop violence against women, social activist Ms Yogita Bhayana from NGO PARI (People Against Rapes in India) conducted a volunteer traineeship workshop for 130 cadets in 31 Kerala Battalion, NCC Kannur. This volunteer traineeship workshop was mainly focused on creating change makers for tomorrow, heralding a safer and violence free India.

The first part of the workshop was focused on highlighting the importance of self Initiative and desensitising the fear of reporting injustices like sexual harassment and child abuse that we witness, for it is important to remember that ignorance is equally a crime.

Further, the second part of the workshop focused on prevention and mindset change which emphasised on gender sensitisation , for it is the very first domino, which when falls, creates long term change. To achieve the same , the short film “Komal” on child sexual abuse was also screened (by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, made with support from Childline) Additionally, focused attention was on making the session interactive, each of the 130 cadets extended forth their suggestions and came forward to share their personal anecdotes. With this workshop, this tiny group of youth volunteers is hoped to be the first drop that creates ripples and waves to curb violence against women and together help build a safer India.
